About Trigg County Historical & Preservation Society
The Trigg County Historical & Preservation Society, Inc. was first organized on October 22, 1981. Retired Trigg County School superintendent Roy McDonald called the meeting to order and said “The idea of a historical society has been on my mind and the minds of others for years”. County Attorney, Kenneth Kennedy, presented the Articles of Incorporation which were adopted. The first board of directors were: Roy McDonald, Sally Elder, Keith Venable, George W. Bleidt, Kenneth Kennedy, Billy Rawls and John Hall.
The first officers were president, Kenneth Kennedy; vice president, Tom Elder; secretary, Ann McAtee; treasurer, Sally Elder.
Since this time, we work to preserve the history of Trigg County in the best way possible. We are a 501c3 non-profit entity.
We have published four books; Trigg County and Family History 1985. Trigg County and Family History 1987, Canton on the Cumberland and the Trigg Cunty and Family Histories 2020.
We actively seek out items of historical significance to Trigg County and work with their owners to preserve those for future generations

We have regular meeting on the second Tuesday of each month and normally have speakers on subjects of interest about history.
We solicit individual memberships to the Historical Society, $25 per year or $300 for a lifetime membership.
Business memberships are; Bronze Membership $250, Silver Membership $500, Gold Membership $1000. All Bronze, Silver and Gold membership are promoted on our website.
